2020 was a year we that will go down in history… It was full of ups and downs, uncertainties, and surprises! 2021 will most likely be similar in the degree of uncertainty and surprises. Although we don't have total control in life and all of its up and downs, we do have control over how we react, respond, and what we bring to them. As a whole we've been feeding the collective conscious with fear and stress. It is up to us as individuals to do our part to feed it with love and light. This is the only way to make, feel, and see the changes that we all seek in this world.
Did you know that we live around 98% of our life in our subconscious mind, repeating 98% of the same things everyday. Meaning around 23 of our 24 hours a day we are doing and thinking the same things over and over…. The reason for this is that our subconscious mind is 4 million times more powerful that our conscious mind. We are, in a sense, robots. This is one of the reasons we can find ourselves bored of the same-old life, and often sad or feeling stuck. The good news is that we can change this with mindfulness and practice.
An athlete performs the same drills, skills, and routines everyday for hours a day, and this implants a memory into their muscles and memory that becomes part of their very strong subconscious mind. That is why Simone Biles can perform a routine so perfectly over and over again. The way an athlete evolves and learns new skill and routines is to tap into their conscious mind when learning a new skill. When we approach anything new, driving a for instance, we are super mindful in the beginning- our focus is sharp, but after so long we don't even remember how we got from point A to point B, our subconscious mind took over and did the driving. Athletes, whether they know it or not, are masters at operating at the conscious level!
Let's make 2021 the year that we tap into our conscious minds and grow as a healthier and happier collective mind and body. A few ways to do this is to find new things to do in your daily lives that bring us joy. Instead of mindlessly scrolling on social media, or getting sucked into the fear-based news, find something that brings you joy- schedules walks with friends, get out in nature, cook that new healthy meal you've been wanting to try, take that online dance class, paint, sing, the opportunities are endless. Start small but start something.
Meditation is a great way to tap into your consciousness, by simply just watching your breathing. By focusing more on our breathing and less on our thinking we can begin to slow down the monkey mind and start to gain more control over our thoughts and body. Below is a 5-minute meditation to get you started tapping into your conscious mind:
The more mindful we are, and the more we start living from our conscious mind and body, instead of our unconscious mind and body, we will make and see real significant changes in the world. We can be the change we wish to see in the world! We have more power and control then you ever could imagine. Let's make 2021 the best year yet as we each shine our life force into the collective realm of existence. Let's do more then just exist. Let's SHINE!!!!!
